The Voyage of Dollier & Galinee

Port Dover Branch

Saturday September 30, 1:30 -3:00 p.m.

Come hear the amazing story of Dollier De Casson and Galinee, two Sulpician Priests with seven soldier companions and their explorations of 1669-1670. These men travelled by birch bark canoe through upstate New York, portaging the Grand River and wintering in Port Dover. Their marathon trip took them to lands where no European had ventured before and eventually even to the court of King Louis XIV.

Come view the map of their travels created by Galinee. Hear the story of their hardships from their own journal entries and catch a glimpse of what Norfolk County was like before Canada came to be.

There will be light refreshments following the author’s presentation. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Part of the proceeds from this event will support the Norfolk County Public Library. Admission is free.
