John Race MakerSpace

In 2017, our John Race MakerSpace officially opening at our Simcoe Branch. In this space, all patrons are invited to tinker, create and collaborate using the exciting technology found here. All patrons are required to sign in at the circulation desk prior to entry of the John Race MakerSpace. 

Our John Race MakerSpace contains:

  • MakerBot 3D printer (also found at our Port Dover Branch)
  • Cricut cutter (also found at our Port Dover and Waterford Branches)
  • Vinyl cutter
  • iMac computer
  • iSense scanner
  • Dash & Dot robot set
  • Micro:bit set
  • Sewing machines
  • Portable green screen
  • Photography lighting set
  • GO! Big electric fabric cutter
  • Snap Circuit set
  • Canon Vixia camcorder
  • Microscopes

All technology is free to use. However, there is a cost to some of the supplies you may require in this space. 

Our material rates:

3D Printer:
Filament – $0.10 per gram

Cricut Cutter:
Paper – $0.05 per sheet,
Card stock – $0.10 per sheet
Envelopes – $0.50 each

Vinyl Cutter:
Vinyl – $0.05 per inch (transfer tape is included)

Please note that all patrons interested in using the vinyl cutter or 3D printer are required to receive training from library staff before they are permitted to use those pieces of equipment.
