What does NCPL do with donations?

Donations support Library programming, services, and collections, helping us create welcoming spaces and enriching experiences for everyone.

How can I donate?

You can:

  • Click here to download and print the donation form
  • Bring your completed donation form with cash, cheque, debit, or credit to any Branch
  • Mail a cheque (payable to Norfolk County Public Library) along with your donation form to:

  • Call to make a credit card donation at 519-426-3506 ext. 1258

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. Donations of $20 or more are eligible for a tax receipt, which will be issued in December of the year the donation is received.

Are there other ways to give?

You can also make a meaningful impact by volunteering with NCPL or donating gently used items!

Donating Items to the Library

We are happy to accept donations of books, audiobooks and DVDs! Donations are only accepted during hours when a Library Branch is open. Once donated, material become the property of the Library and cannot be returned to the donor and may be sold in our book sales. 

What Materials Can I Donate?

  • Items that are in excellent condition and listed below
  • Hardcover & paperback fiction published within the last 2 years.
  • Audiobooks published within the last 2 years.
  • Non-fiction books less than 5 years old.
  • Children's books: picture books, board books, fiction etc. published within the last 2 years.
  • DVDs & Blu-rays.

Please only donate one (1) box of materials per visit.

What Items Are Not Accepted?

  • Old and outdated books.
  • Music CDs.
  • Books in poor condition: yellow pages, torn/ripped pages, dirty, water stained, musty.
  • Encyclopedias, textbooks and reference books.
  • Computer manuals.
  • Magazines and newspapers.
  • Readers Digest condensed books.
