CELA
The Centre for Equitable Library Access, CELA, is a national not-for-profit organization that provides accessible reading services to the approximately 5 million people across Canada with print disabilities. CELA provides access to a collection of over 1.5 million titles in multiple accessible formats, including audio, braille, printbraille and text. Their services ensure that people with print disabilities across the country are more able to fully participate in learning, work and community life and contribute to the social, cultural, and economic development and success of their local and broader communities.
As a CELA Member library, people who have a print disability and have a valid library card are welcome to sign up for CELA service.
The library also offers DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) services to support accessible reading for individuals with print disabilities.
Patrons can borrow DAISY readers, along with a collection of more than 900 DAISY audiobook titles spanning a wide range of genres and interests. These specialized audiobooks are designed for easy navigation, allowing users to move by chapter, section, or page for a more flexible and accessible listening experience.
